H. Richard Lehneis, Jr., CPO attained his position as President of Lehneis Orthotics and Prosthetics Associates, Ltd., after merging into the family business in 1995 following a career and his own private practice in New York State. He enrolled at New York University's Post-Graduate Medical School Certificate program in 1978-79 for his orthotics education, prosthetics at Chicago's Northwestern University in 1981, and advanced prosthetics at the University of California at Los Angeles. The American Board for Certification in Orthotics & Prosthetics certified Richard in orthotics in 1980 and prosthetics in 1982.
During his student years various companies at locations from Louisiana and Tennessee to New York employed him as an orthotics and prosthetics technician. The diversified exposure contributed toward his balanced training and education. "Starting my career as a technician has enriched me in my education as a practitioner and in patient care today," he noted. "Many practitioners do not receive the full training of a technician as my brother and I did. This has broadened our ability to couple all available technology to the patients needs and keeps our company in the forefront of advanced personalized care".
As a practitioner, Richard works with patients of differing ages and disabilities, from infants to the elderly and has a special affinity for treating children.
Richard is on the Board of Directors with the National Association for the Advancement of Orthotics and Prosthetics (NAAOP).
